. . . . . . . . . . . . . To Roshinee, Malaysia is a complex nation, yet one that remains kind, pragmatic, and diverse. Growing up in an underprivileged community, she witnessed firsthand the inequalities in poverty, education, and opportunity. Over time, she realized that many social issues seemingly detached from politics are, in fact, deeply intertwined with it. After completing her master’s degree in Human Rights and Politics in the UK two years ago, she returned to Malaysia. Through content creation, civic education, and the “Dilarang Ponteng Parlimen” (No MPs Absenteeism) petition movement, she has been encouraging more people to rethink the relationship between politics and daily life. In the face of racism, sexism, and online attacks, she admits that speaking out is far from easy. However, she firmly believes that a narrow, restrictive definition of Malaysia must not be allowed to replace the nation’s inherent diversity and inclusivity. So, what kind of country is Malaysia in her eyes? In an exclusive interview with Pocket Times, Roshinee shares her perspective.
